Brief Moment

Feeling the brisk cold,
Playing with thoughts and feelings
Of a warm light.

Souls become.
As light fades to dark,
A brief moment’s cost.

Dark fades to light.
With an amber glow
from a faint ember.

Darkness near,
Broken by distant light.

Light near,
Broken by distant darkness.

A soul glows,
ember’s memory.

I wrote this a few weeks ago along with snapping the above photo a night after the recent series of shootings. I figured I’d put it up after some thought and a revision. After all, I do have a spot to file my writing on this blog.

When I was a child,

I loved my Family

with ignorance.

When I was a youth,

I feared my Family

with lies.

When I was a punk,

I hated my Family

with knowledge.

When I was an adult,

I loved my Family

with wisdom.

Mount Audubon: Indian Peaks Wilderness

Shall Old Growth disappear?

Shall the honeybee disappear?

Where shall we be?

Will we keep the Old Growth.

Will we keep the Colony.

Old Growth is key,

If we cut

a swath, then

with new space.

Only to cut

new growth

every decade.

The equation,

doesn’t function.

If the bees,

Shall our lives

be vanquished?

A migratory bee keeper

might be a downfall.

When a scientific intrusion

of reproduction utilized

monoculture farming continues

with deathly results.

We need our local

Old growth.

We need our local

We might keep

our local diverse farms.

We might decrease

our water vapor.
