MountHood_Sunset_5603

On March 19, 2010 Tom Hanlon and I went for a little adventure around the Eastside of Mount Hood.  I took the above image from our bivy on the Southside at the start of our journey.  The next day we woke up at 0300 and got moving by 0430 to circumnavigate around to the Black Spider area above the Mount Hood Meadows ski area on the Northeast corner of the mountain.  We went up towards the base of the Steel Cliffs seen in the photo below at the right edge of the image.

Then we wrapped around and up onto the ridge line that continues out of frame to the right in the above image.  From there we continued on a generally level contour to the Black Spider area of Mount Hood’s East face as seen in the image below.

The day I took this image of the Black Spider the ice line above the snow bowl just left of center was unclimbed.  The following day two climbers tagged this wonderful line and named it Fric Amos.  Tom and I continued around to the Cooper Spur and finished with a climb to the top at 1209 on 3/19/2010.

WSU Vancouver portrait of David and Abbey

WSU Vancouver portrait of David and Abbey

I took this shot the other evening for David and Abbey…it took awhile to find a good flow due to the cold evening air.  However, we achieved some quality.  Take a look at more images in my portraits folder.

Marc approaching the Navigator Wall of Slesse

Marc approaching the Navigator Wall of Slesse

I went up to Slesse in Lower BC just south of Chilliwack, BC for a moderate climbing objective.  However, being out for the past two seasons due to my ACL injury has taken a greater toll on my body then I realized.   This 16 year old handed me my weaknesses on this short lived journey.  However, I had a few photography successes despite tweaking my left shoulder on the first roped pitch.    I got the above shot as I was moving a few yards behind Marc and saw the sunrise hitting the upper mountain.

I also got a 111 image panoramic once we returned to the propeller cairn after tweaking my shoulder.

The propeller cairn is there in memory of Flight 810 that crashed into the mountain during bad weather and killed all who were aboard the flight.  This area is a Historical Monument  and debris from the flight must be left in place.

JonPDX(crossProcess)_MG_4729-Edit

Well, I love photographing waterfalls in the gorge. So a natural progression is to photograph fountains. This shot was taken at the Civic Auditorium with post work in photoshop to bring out a unique undertone and pop the strips of the hoody even more. This was shot while out getting urban style photos for Vayuwear in downtown Portland. Thank you Jon for letting me tell you what to do for an evening in front of my lens.

MultnomahCreekVayu_MG_4654-Edit

I got this shot the other day while out shooting for Vayuwear above the main Multnomah Falls that everyone in the Northwest knows well. This one is roughly the third or fourth main falls.
